Master Electricians is pleased to announce the election of Rhys Burton as its new Vice President.
Previously serving as President of the Auckland Branch of Master Electricians, Rhys has over 20 years’ experience working in the electrical industry. He is a Senior Leader, Shareholder, and General Manager of Service at Dalton Electrical Ltd, one of the largest industrial focused electrical contracting businesses in Auckland.
“This national role is all about representing the membership, and I think members need a better voice at board level. We need to be cohesive and ensure decisions are focussed on what’s best for the membership, the industry – I hope to do that well. Our success as an organisation comes down to linking the membership, the association and the suppliers.”
He adds, “I look forward to working with our National President and supporting our new CEO who is bringing added passion and drive to the organisation. The industry has done a lot for me over the years in terms of opportunity, so it’s nice to give back.”
In addition to diverse industry experience, Rhys has completed a degree in Applied Management as well as the Institute of Directors certificate in company direction. His experience and qualifications have helped him grow a 60-strong service team and establish a number of new service branches. His economic forecast for the electrical sector is positive.
“The residential sector is in a hard place presently; overall, I’m cautiously optimistic that next year things will bounce back right across our sector.”
Alexandra Vranyac-Wheeler, Chief Executive Officer of Master Electricians New Zealand, says, “Rhys has a strong mix of governance, management and industry capabilities that make him well suited to step into the Vice President role. I know he will make a valuable contribution as he assumes board duties in the coming months.”
A keen outdoors man, Rhys balances living in New Zealand’s biggest city with boating, fishing, hunting and hiking. He has completed nine of the 10 Great Walks of New Zealand and is booked to do the tenth.
The Master Electricians Board warmly welcomes Rhys to the Vice President role and looks forward to his leadership as we navigate the evolving landscape for the electrical industry while continuing to drive value to our members.
